What makes indie bookstores stand out in the publishing industry? What lessons can other retailers learn from the way these bookshops are run?

I think the adaptive change by Barnes and Noble; in terms of strategy is one that is old school, but to this day remains relevant and effective. What I mean is that the customer is always right. Empowering the booksellers in bookstores allows you the privilege of having a pulse of the community or specific demographics. The curation of specific demographics of communities becomes easier as you can facilitate to the needs of readers in a more versatile way. As a result, further support of bookstores by the people in terms of investing in sales would enable more money to stay within the community, which becomes beneficial for the economy. Furthermore, this would be convenient for independent authors to further complement small businesses and develop by default as a result of the support provided to them by bookstores.
